9000 Aalborg

eyda

Eyda girls Sofie Buus and Emilie Sofie Christensen invited us on a tour around their home town - Denmark’s fourth largest city - Aalborg. Many of you might first think of its yearly carnival, an event that attracts 60,000 happy people each year making it Northern Europe's largest carnival. An event which can definitely be recommended, whether it be as a participant or spectator. But the the Northern city surely has a lot more to offer.

We meet Sofie and Emilie at the sourdough bakery, the perfect place to finish the morning gym routine. The girls often stop by the bakery, which is centrally located in cozy surroundings. You can sit down at the bakery or take it with you. The order is always the same: a sourdough roll with butter and cheese, and a latte. Sofie has had big success with her sourdough baking at home. If you want to endeavor yourself, the bakery offers courses for 900 kr. per person.

At Aalborg’s waterfront with open views of Limfjorden you’ll find the House of Music. A beautiful building that is definitely worth a visit. The architectural pearl has both concert halls, restaurants and teaching facilities. If you want to keep up to date with concerts, shows and lectures you can follow them here.

If you like a good walk with friends the waterfront great for that too. Beside the open views, it also has lots of little cafes and restaurants. You can visit Aalborg Streetfood at Skudehavn to get a large selection of delicious foods. Close by the House of Music you find the Utzon Center as well.

If you want new exhibitions to discover, you can visit the KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art. We stopped by while the exhibition SKUM - an inflatable sculpture drawn by BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group - was on. Regardless of what you’re into there is always something to discover here, and particular kids will find the big fountain in the garden entertaining. If you want to grab food while you’re there you can experience the small greenhouses, enjoy a nice brunch or a lunch in Brasserie Kunsten.

Skovdalen is an outdoor auditorium which hosts concerts under the open skies, and for Emilie and Sofie it a favorite place to meet for an outdoor workout. The place is surrounded by a beautiful nature, so there are great options for running, stair sprints, mountain climbers, lunges or whatever you feel like. We love outdoor training this is a perfect place for that.
